A muscular 32-year-old former model, Tatum has appeared in “G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra,” “21 Jump Street,” and “Magic Mike,” among other films.
Channing thought was a joke. “My first thought was ‘Y’all are messing with me,’ ” said the 32-year-old Southerner, who grew up in Alabama, Mississippi and Florida.
“I told Jenna (Dewan-Tatum, his wife of three years) after we’d been in the bathtub washing our dogs because they’d gotten skunked. She was like ‘What?’ Yeah, she calls me . . . (the Sexiest Man Alive) now.” Dewan-Tatum, a 31-year-old actress, preferred to praise his inner beauty: “People know him to be fun and sexy, but they don’t know how emotionally deep and spiritually open he is.
He is such an openhearted person; what you see is what you get.” Tatum is hoping to start a family soon.
“ I’m ready; I think she’s ready,” he said. Professionally, he is focused on training as he prepares to play an Olympic athlete in the 2013 film Foxcatcher. “I like to be lean,” he said. “When I’m not training, I get really round and soft.”
