Progress of 42 days no-Ebola race gets across Sierra Leone and Bonthe District joins others fighting the deadly epidemic disease. 

According to reports, Bonthe recently becomes one of the Provinces having minimal cases of the Ebola.
Social mobilization, active case surveillance and contact tracing has been key points defeating Ebola, Dr. Kargbo Labor, the District Medical Officer explains to Awareness Times in an interview on Saturday 31/01/2015.

'Our vocabulary doesn’t spell anything that can be of complacent, until the whole country is declared Ebola free'.

'Don’t touch, wash your hands frequently, report any suspected case, be careful with strangers, no stigmatization and all survivors should abstain from unprotected sex.' Dr Labor went on to discuss the bye-laws and awareness in the Mende Chiefdom with restrictions been placed on movements in the country and helping tools overcoming this epidemic crises.

He praises the community for their cooperation as hes calculates 'Bonthe District has a projected population of 160,000 people and 100,000 have voluntarily metamorphosed into contacted tracing and neighbourhood watching'.

The district officially had five cases of Ebola since July 18th to December 20th.

'As soon as we heard about the outbreak in sister districts, we assembled our people and educated on the danger of the Ebola Disease' Mrs Rita Savage, the Bonthe District Council Chairman explained how early sensitization has been the key success to this positive result.
