Before the election the outgoing President Solomon Samba said the year 2014 could best be described as a very challenging year for the club due to the outbreak of the Ebola Epidemic which impacted negatively on the operations of the club.
There is no gainsaying the fact that the disease has not only affected the lives, but also the livelihood of the people of this country.
In view of the declining number of the number of new infections it is my fervent hope that this virus will contained within the next two months.
He said inspite of the very difficult situation in 2014, which was characterized by a near closure of the club, our staff having to receive half salaries and the adoption of cost-containment measures, we were able to keep the club afloat.
Revenue for the period of the 31st December 2014 was Leones Le808, 747 as compared to Leones to Le987.589 a decrease of 18% for the corresponding period to 31st December 2013.
The decrease in revenue was mainly due to the fact that we were to hold our flagship event. The Sierra Leone Golf open which generated a substantial income for the club during the previous year.
We also experienced a reduction in profits from the bar and a decrease in subscriptions and entrance fees.
The resultant deficit of Le 41 million as compared to a surplus of 94 million for the corresponding period to 31st December 2013 was due to the effect of the Ebola virus Disease on our activities.
