Whilst sister districts are progressing to defeat the Ebola virus, Port Loko becomes global concern as new reports emerged with 80 new confirmed cases.

Port Loko pulls out off the 42 day No-Ebola race that need an immediate attention because there were 65 reported cases in mid January and new ones still counting.

National Ebola Response Center (NERC) CEO Major Alfred Paolo Conteh shares his worries in a press conference held yesterday Feb 4th, 2015. He talks ban restriction, grounds of complacency, other area and actions taken:

'Sadly, that prediction proved inaccurate. Our latest figures suggest that in the week of 26 January, there were 80 new confirmed cases, a rise from 65 cases the week before.'

'The security forces and members of my team have also drawn my attention to the increasing number of public activities, especially those bordering around marriages and funerals,'

'It is up to all of us to play our parts, and I remind all to do their duty for this great nation,'

'We are so nearly there but let us keep focus and fully defeat this wicked virus,'

'This outbreak will continue as long as people continue to engage in unsafe burial practices, even though we have challenges in Port Loko District particularly which continues to register high number of cases the past few days, the country continues to register low cases.'

'As I speak to you I have a team to take a close look at Port Loko and implement robust intervention to halt this disturbing development.'
