Central African Republic: The Economy Takes Its Breath

The Central African economy out of breath from the political crisis gripping the country. The Deputy Governor of the Bank of Central African States (BEAC), Mahamat Tahir Nguilid, made a positive assessment of the recovery of the country's economy, noting that with the gradual return of security in the country saw its GDP rise from 0.37 per cent in 2013 to 1.6 percent in 2014.

"With the return of security and the commitments of the partners, the Central African economy will be very well aware of this year (2015 Editor's note) which is not the case for three years" left Mahamat Tahir Nguilid which is also the president of the Crisis Committee of the Central Bank of the Central African Republic.

This Saturday, March 7, 2015, at the first regular meeting of the National Monetary and Financial Committee of 2015 in Bangui, Mr. Nguilid expressed optimism BEAC, who believes that the upturn will continue with the recovery activities in the mining, agricultural, forestry and the return of the administration throughout the territory.

For the Central African Minister of Finance, Abdallah Kadre, control of public finances characterized by the payment of most bills of the State, has played a leading role in the economic recovery. He also explained that the operation was possible thanks to an owner financing or with the support of financial partners in the country, especially the French Development Agency.

At previous meetings of the BEAC on Central, recommendations were made for banks to grant loans to individuals secured by the BEAC. Today, many Central Africans complain that the decisions taken at these meetings are not implemented by banks in the country.
