In preparation for the World Day of the International Organization of the Francophonie (OIF), the Embassy of France in Guinea and Sierra Leone held March 18 press conference in Conakry. With the theme "The appointment of the month of Francophonie 2016 in Guinea," the speakers talked about the importance of the global theme of the Francophonie festival.
On March 20 of each year, the Francophonie member countries celebrate International Day of the organization. Every year in March, there is a global event celebrating the French speaking a language.
There are many countries that share the French language, it's not just France. It is also an international organization comprising 75 states who speak French as an official language, and other countries that are observers. It represents a human potential in an extremely rich field.
This year's global theme is Youth, environment and climate. The choice of this theme is not accidental because the 900 million men and women who make up the space of the Francophonie, ¼ are young.
According to the French Foreign Ministry for the development, the conference aims to present all the Francophone programs and this year the festival has two peculiarities.
"We will celebrate on March 20, the 45th International Day of Francophonie. The theme will be declined throughout the year 2015. The OIF focuses on these three segments Young, environment and climate. There were new members since the last summit in Dakar. There are 80 member states and governments, including other 53 member states and 27 observers. Africans are the most important and Youth are our great concern, "he said.
The director of the Franco-Guinean Cultural Center, Daniel Couriol stated that, the slogan of the international festival of the Francophonie 'My heart is my planet'. It symbolized by a circle in the logo. The idea of the Francophonie is to be carried by the young people themselves to environmental protection, he says.
According to him, many activities are planned for this celebration in Conakry.
