The Guinea-Bissau was the Portuguese-speaking country with the highest growth in the democracy index of Economy Intelligence Unit in 2014, says a research company linked to British magazine "The Economist". It remains on the table of the tail to occupy the position 159 against 166 last year.

Cape Verde, which fell four positions, remains the best in the Lusophone Economy Intelligence Unit index. Cape Verde is the best Portuguese-speaking country to stay in the 31st place but lost four places.

Mozambique, who lost three places, now ranks 107th place, while Angola still in the group of countries of authoritarian regimes, in position 132.

Portugal became the 33rd position and while the Brasili kept the 44th place.

The Democracy Index is prepared by the Economist Intelligence Unit and is now in its seventh edition. The study measures the democracy in 167 countries and focuses attention on five general categories: electoral process and pluralism, civil liberties, functioning of government participation, politics and political culture.

Topping the list of this classification is in Norway, followed by countries in Northern Europe, Sweden, Iceland), New Zealand and Denmark.
