Managing Director (MD) of Mercury International, Martin Michael has stated that the three boys from the Craig Bellamy Academy’s move to Cambodia is part of the academy plan.

“It is to expose these boys to standard football and also to boost their education because minus the football they will also attend school over there. This is also part of their educational exposure.”

The three players are amongst the most accomplished since the academy was launched to help underprivileged children in Sierra Leone get the chance to reach their true potential through sport and education, and also enable them to build a better life for themselves and their communities.

According to the Mercury International MD who also doubles as Trustee of the CBF, the three boys already joined the Cambodian giant Phnom Penh Crown (PPCFC ) and will stay with the club for eight months before returning back to Freetown

He also revealed that Santigie Koroma 18 will challenge for a place in the PPCFC senior team whilst Suleiman Samura 17 and Umaru Samura 16 will both be part of the club’s Academy U-17 squad in preparation for acceptance into the 2015 Asia Champions Trophy.

“It is no longer a secret that Mercury International has a partnership with the CBF of which we are offering over two thousand scholarship to the boys and girls who are competing in their leagues,” Michael said.

He also mentioned that the company splashed over Le 50 million to cover round trip for three players and an official from the Craig Bellamy Foundation Academy (CBF) for their trip to Cambodian.
