Unfortunately for former Liberia President Charles Taylor, the Residual Special Court for Sierra  Leone will not grant his request for a transfer from the United Kingdom to the central African country, Rwanda.

This conclusion was made on Tuesday, March 24. Taylor, who was found guilty in April 2012 of all eleven charges levied by the Special Court, including terror, murder and rape and was sentenced in May of the same year to 50 years in prison, plead to RSCSL that his family denied UK visas and there is no other means he can see them.
Rwanda would have been ideal for him, his wife and children.

He mentioned being bullied by other prisoners who know his biography and question why his jail time is supposed to be in a foreign land order than Africa. It will be more cost effective with travels if he is in the African continent, he argued.

However, Special Court did not agree to that. Brenda J. Hollis, RSCSL Prosecutor opposed the request and said that if he is moved to Rwanda, he will be exposed to undermine peace, security, stability and good order in Liberia and the West African sub-region, and would have implications on the security and sense of security of witnesses, Court personnel and former and current high level State officials.”
