Tunis - The perpetrators of the attack were trained in Libya

The two authors of the attack on the Bardo Museum in Tunis, which killed 21 people, including 20 tourists, were trained in the use of weapons in Libya, said the Tunisian Secretary of State for Security Affairs.
These are "two Salafi extremists takfiris.
They secretly left the country last December to Libya and have formed weapons in Libya before returning to Tunisia, said Rafik Chelly on Thursday night in the private channel AlHiwar Ettounsi.

"We do not have the details, but there are training camps for Tunisians (Libya) in Sabratha, Benghazi and Derna, so (they have formed) in one of these camps," he added.

The two attackers were identified by authorities as Yassine Abidi and Hatem Khachnaoui. Dr. Chelly said that Yassine Abidi was arrested before he left Libya, without elaborating.

"The two men were suspicious items part of the so-called sleeper cells, formed of elements in the cities known that we know are takfiris, which we know can lead operations, but we must piece together clues in order to conduct an arrest, " the head argued .

Wednesday's attack hit the most prestigious museum in the country, causing 21 deaths, according to the latest official figures, and was claimed by the Islamic State jihadi group (EI), which controls large areas in Syria and Iraq.

Since 2011, Tunisia struggle against a jihadist group linked to Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb, Okba Ibn Nafaâ the Phalange, which killed dozens of police and soldiers to the Algerian border.

In addition, at least 500 Tunisians who fought in Iraq, Syria or neighboring Libya in the ranks of jihadi organizations such as EI returned to their country. The police consider them as one of the main threats to national security.
