What began as a thrilling love affair has ended in pain, suffering and regret for a man whose face was splashed with hot water by an irate girlfriend.
Ranko Lebeetsweng, 44, from Block 8 in Gaborone was scarred for life when his angry girlfriend Masego Kelepile, 35, hurled a pot of boiling water at him in revenge for his allegedly repeated rape incidents.
Confirming the incident, the defiant Kelepile said, “It is true. I had boiling water for tea in a pot and when he showed up at my house unannounced I threw it at him and burnt his face,” she revealed.
Kelepile explained in an interview with The Voice that she acted in self defence to prevent Lebeetsweng from possibly raping her again like he did before.
“When I agreed to date him I wasn’t aware that he had a live-in-lover with whom he had a child. He used to boast that he had a family and that used to annoy me a great deal. He would come to my house and harass me. On once occasion, he raped me continuously for 3 hours. And this was despite my repeated pleas for him to stop,” she lamented.
Apparently Lebeetsweng would brag that he would return for more sex because she (Kelepile) was better in bed than his live-in girlfriend.
“He did not even use a condom the first time. Who knows, maybe he has infected himself with some sexually transmitted diseases that I have or he has infected me,” she related.
Lebeetsweng on the other hand has expressed deep regret at cheating the mother of his child and blamed the devil for the act.
“I was sent by the devil to cheat on the mother of my child and now I regret it. I don’t know what got into my mind. My friend had advised me to stop the affair but I still went ahead and continued with it,” said the remorseful Lebeetsweng, as his girlfriend listened attentively.
Sporting horrific wounds on the face and chest, Lebeetsweng revealed that his brief love affair with Kelepile ended the minute she scalded his face. Although he did not refute the rape allegations, Lebeetsweng contradicted Kelepile’s claims that he was burnt at her door.
Instead he claimed that they argued over a P 100 note he wanted to give her.
“She said it was too little. She called it a joke. I tried to leave and that’s when she threw hot water on my face,” he said.
Meanwhile Sir Seretse Khama police Station Commander, Superintendent Bannetse Keakile has said that the woman has been reported to them and a charge of assault occasioning bodily harm has been laid against her.
“We have completed our investigations and are simply waiting for the complainant to heal before we take the matter to court. If found guilty the court is at liberty to sentence her to one year imprisonment.”
Superintendent Keakile has commented.
