Sharky Jama, ex-model and DJ shot dead while fighting alongside ISIS militants in Syria on Monday, April 13th.
Hussein Harakow, president of the Somali Australian Council of Victoria said the news reached his parent through mobile text.
The 25-year-old had disappeared along with another Somali-Australian, named in Australian media reports as former business student Yusuf Yusuf, in August of last year.
His parent who were unaware their son was linked with the militants, according to Mr. Harakow, they had brief contact with him during his stay in Iraq with the ISIS.
Whether Jama's death is true, it has not yet been confirmed by Australia's Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade as there is no consular support available within Syria.
He is described by his former modeling agency as 'a promising young man'.
