On Saturday, Lupita Nyong'o attended a fundraising event in Uganda ahead of commencing on the shooting of the Disney movie, Queen Of Katwe.
Lupita was a guest of honour at the event that raised US$18,000 that will be used in the continued development of the Maisha Gardens.
She was in the company of celebrated film director and founder of the Maisha foundation, Mira Nair, Phionah Mutesi (the young world chess champion on whose story Queen of Katwe is based) and Robert Katende, her chess master, among other persons.
Lupita posted the news of being in East Africa on her Facebook page. She wrote, "From 6000 pearls to just 1: Uganda. Excited to be back in East Africa to work with #MiraNair on #QueenOfKatwe. #MaishaAlive #nofilter."
