Commemoration of the abolition of the colonial status in Reunion.
2015-2016, the 70th anniversary celebration of years of the Act of March 19, 1946
Call for the creation of a Celebration Committee
The seventieth anniversary of the Act of March 19, 1946 will be held in a year in 2016. Until then, many initiatives will be undertaken to promote the importance of this historic date. Often invited to speak on this event, we call this time, the constitution of a Celebration Committee to coordinate a schedule that will span the years 2015 and 2016.
Indeed, there are seventy years, the contemporary of Raymond Vergès and Leon Lepervanche were at a crossroads. At the exit of the 2nd World War, the economy was destroyed Reunion and misery was extreme. We had to give our compatriots a new path. Raymond Vergès and Leon Lepervanche have created the political conditions for a change of status of the island. On 21 October 1945, they are elected MPs and 19 March 1946, a law ends the colonial status and erects The Meeting Department.
Today, various studies show that the policy framework remains in force for 7 decades has reached its limits. New economic, social, cultural and political norms are needed for a new historical stage.
The seventieth anniversary is an opportunity to take stock of the past and to create opportunities for a better future for all and for all.
