The Kenyan authorities have announced today, April 4, they have arrested five people in addition to the four assailants slaughtered during the assault of the security forces in the university.

"We suspected them of being part of the attack. We are trying to establish links" Mwenda Njoka, spokesman of the Kenyan Ministry of the Interior said in a statement.
He disclosed that the suspects continue to be interrogated by the police.

Mohamed Kuno, a former teacher at the Koranic school in Garissa has since distinguished himself after suspicions he is the main body of this saga.

Two of the five arrestee were arrested inside Garissa university campus.
One of the two men, a Tanzanian, was hidden in the ceiling of the university and was in possession of grenades, according to Mr. Njoka. The other suspect, a patrolman, was arraigned because the authorities suspected he was having facilitated entry to the assailants.  " It is Kenyan ethnicity", says the ministry of the Interior.

Finally, the other three suspects detained outside of Garissa by the Kenyan authorities as they were suspected of being coordinators.  They were arrested while they were trying to flee to Somalia, the spokesperson explained.

The Islamists al-shebabs Somalia who are claimed responsible for the attack are now threatening Kenya of a new blood bath if the Kenyan troops do not withdraw from Somalia. The al-shebabs want the withdrawal of Kenyan troops engaged in their country since 2011.

In a press release today, Saturday, president of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta declared three days of national mourning

"My government will respond more severely as possible to the attack and to any other attack which we will pursue ", he promised, while adding: "Despite the adversity, we have never folded  and we will never surrender. We will continue to build a prosperous nation and safe".

" Counter Terrorism has become particularly difficult, as those who are planning and financing are deeply implanted in our communities and were considered to be of ordinary people and harmless", stressed the president of Kenya. " The radicalization that creates terrorism takes place on the great day, in the Koranic schools, houses and mosques with imams without scruples", he said.
